It's all in the name

Excerpt from a reply to an email I recieved from a colleague addressed to "Vicky"

...[blah, snip]...
And now for something completely different... I prefer to be called Vic, VB or plain Victoria if you want to be formal about it. Simple reason, picture me - do I really look like a Vicky type person?

But I'll settle for Groover.

Hey there, Groover.

I was thinking of you as I drove to the station (at 5am this morning).
I remembered an old cartoon strip they used to have in the NME in the early seventies (when it was a decent music paper).
It was about this cool guy in a black cowboy hat called The Lone Groover.
I can't remember much else about it other than it ripped the piss out of the music industry and was pretty funny.

I think it's time someone inherited the name.
Over to you, Lone Groover. You'd look good in a black cowboy hat.
(hee hee).

Thanks dive, I accept the name.

As for the cowboy hat... country music capital is the next town down the highway, and it can stay there. (Insert guilty admission that I do like a few country songs... shit, you didn't hear that...)

Someone I met at the pub on Australia day looked at my blue singlet and asked if I was a shearer, which makes me think I should do a little redneck dress-up shot sometime soon... Where is my akubra?

Groover. I like that. A cross between a Muppet and Groovy. My kind of person.
